My children are criminals!
They rode down to the corner store, which is only a block away. Apparently, they opened a package of gum, & started eating it. One of the neighbors was there and sent them home. Shaun then took them back down so they could explain what they'd done, & pay for the gum. They are now grounded to the house until further notice. In other words, i'm not sure how long.

To clarify, the kids walked down and waltzed in. Our neighbor caught them wandering, but didn't know of any thievery. :) Only after I somehow found out about the gum my daughter had, did I learn where it came from. We went to the store with some piggy bank money of daddy's and the acting manager there (who just happened to be the younger brother of an old friend of mine)was kind enough to hear our story. The Gum was paid for, and we all decided that the gum was daddy's. It was one of those moments where as a dad, I just felt like a fool. But it is essential to explain what needs to be done. "Stay in the yard" doesn't seem to last for longer than 15 minutes...I'm glad our neighbor was there to shuffle two kids home with their tails between their legs and found me. It was one of those times I was so mad I actually hit my leg! There was no way I was going to raise my hand to my kids...not when I am that angry. My friends brother who was the manager was just as amused as I was with my kids reaction to going back to the store to confess. This too shall pass. One more day. :)
