obedience

Taylor, the other day, asked me if he could go to the park with a friend. I told him he had to have an adult with them. He went anyway. When i found out, i sent shaun after him. They missed each other. Taylor came home first. I informed him he was in trouble, and that he was grounded for two days because he had done something even after he was told he couldn't.
as the days went on, i discovered that it would have been easier if i hadn't grounded him. At the same time, he wouldn't have learned anything. I'm still not sure he learned anything.

especially since he did it again a few days later. what am i going to do with that boy?

sigh, ground him again. H was grounded for an entire week from all her art supplies for drawing on the walls. And then a day or two after getting them back, she was back to drawing on the walls again. I think they need a couple times--or more, as she just did it again last week, and then again the next day as I'd missed a couple crayons in her room--to 1) let it sink in, and 2) realize we're actually going to follow thru on it. This more recent time, we added in "no library". Whoooo, the tantrums that came from that!
